The short version: I've been working in the field of commercial art for over 16 years. I'm awesome and fun to work with. I hate broccoli and parades.

The somewhat longer version: I graduated with a B.A. in graphic and advertising design in 1995. I leapt right into my chosen field, doing design work around Baltimore, MD. I had a hand in designing a new children's science museum, did work for the Baltimore Office of Promotion, and eventually wound up at a small ad firm.

In the late 90s I shifted away from design and focused on doing more illustration, which was always my passion. I started working for an experiential marketing firm called The Becker Group, which specialized in large-scale holiday display, interactive environments and touring exhibits. I worked there for 7 years, eventually becoming the manager of their art department.

In 2004 I decided to leave the safety of my office job to start my own business. I've been the owner, manager and sole employee of Common Wombat Studio ever since. I continued to do illustration work for my former employer, The Becker Group, as well as for PW Feats, a local events company, SECU Credit Union, Bravo health, and others.

Though I cut my teeth on traditional media - Pen, pencil, paint, etc, the vast majority of what I do now is completely digital. I work primarily on a Wacom Cintiq digitizing tablet monitor, and software I use includes Sketchbook pro, Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5.

I'm available for jobs large and small, including (but not limited to) cartooning, traditional illustration, editorial, exhibit design, logo design and model building.

It's true: I do not like parades.
